Frequently Asked Questions
"I'm not a model - I don't know how to pose or what to do."
That's perfectly fine! You don't need modeling experience to create stunning images. I've worked with both professional models and everyday people, and that experience has taught me how to guide anyone through a successful shoot. Whether you're naturally camera-ready or completely new to this, I'll help you find poses and expressions that feel authentic to you and translate beautifully on camera. Some of my most powerful images come from people who were convinced they weren't photogenic.
"I've never done a photoshoot before and I'm really nervous."
Nervousness is completely normal and honestly, it shows you care about the outcome. Every session starts with a conversation where we talk through your vision, concerns, and what you hope to achieve. We'll take our time, start slowly, and build confidence as we go. I create a relaxed, supportive environment where you can ease into the experience. Many clients tell me they forgot they were being photographed because the session felt so natural.
"I'm worried about privacy - will these photos end up online?"
Your privacy is paramount. I never post, share, or use any images without your explicit written consent. We'll discuss usage rights before the session, and you have complete control over what happens with your images. Many of my sessions are entirely private, existing only for the client's personal collection.
"How do I know this is safe? I don't know you."
Safety is non-negotiable. I'm happy to provide references and I encourage you to research my work and reputation. We can meet for a consultation first, bring a friend to the session if that makes you comfortable, or start with a more public location shoot. Trust your instincts - if something doesn't feel right, speak up. Professional photography should always feel safe and respectful.
"I'm not young/thin/conventionally attractive enough for photos."
This thinking breaks my heart because it's so wrong. Beauty isn't defined by age, size, or conventional standards. I've photographed people from 18 to 80, size 2 to 22, and every single session has produced stunning art. My job is to find your unique beauty and capture it authentically. The goal isn't to make you look like someone else - it's to make you look like the best version of yourself.
"What if I hate how I look in the photos?"
I understand this fear completely. That's why we work together throughout the session, reviewing images and adjusting as needed. I'm not just clicking a button - I'm crafting each image with intention. Plus, professional editing isn't about changing who you are, but enhancing what's already there. My goal is for you to look at these photos and think "Wow, is that really me?"
"I don't have the right clothes/makeup/hair."
You don't need a professional styling team. We'll discuss wardrobe options during our consultation, and I'll guide you toward choices that photograph well and feel authentically you. Sometimes the most powerful images come from simple, natural styling. If you want professional hair and makeup, I can recommend talented artists, but it's never required.
"What if I'm awkward or can't relax during the shoot?"
Awkwardness often translates to authentic, compelling images. I've worked with introverts, people with social anxiety, and those who swear they're "not photogenic." Part of my job is helping you feel comfortable and bringing out your natural expressions. We'll take breaks, talk through poses, and work at your pace. There's no pressure to be anything other than yourself.
"This seems expensive - is it worth it?"
Professional photography is an investment, but consider what you're getting: hours of creative planning, the actual session time, professional editing, and artwork that will last a lifetime. These aren't just photos - they're heirlooms, confidence boosters, and artistic statements about who you are. Many clients tell me their session was transformative, helping them see themselves in a completely new light.
"What if my family/friends think this is vain or silly?"
Celebrating yourself through art isn't vain - it's healthy self-appreciation. You don't need anyone's permission to invest in yourself or to create something beautiful. Often, the people who question these decisions are the ones who wish they had the courage to do it themselves. This is about you, for you.
